A Mannheim, Germany, soldier has been convicted of raping a fellow soldier after a night of drinking in Mannheim.
Spc. Michael Levitt, assigned to the 51st Transportation Company — part of the Mannheim-based 181st Transportation Battalion — “accompanied the victim, a fellow servicemember, to her barracks room to watch television,” according to an Army spokesman. “When she fell asleep, he removed her clothing and raped her.”
Levitt, who was convicted Oct. 15, was sentenced to 18 months in jail, reduction to E-1, forfeiture of all pay and allowances and given a bad-conduct discharge.
