RAF MILDENHALL, England — Fuel is the lifeblood of RAF Mildenhall, home to the 352nd Special Operations Group, which can provide midair refueling to helicopters and Ospreys.

On Thursday, the base trained for a simulated fuel spill. The exercise began when one airman drove through a puddle of water simulating fuel and called in the incident. Firefighters, security forces and other base agencies responded to contain the spill and keep it from spreading off base.

Lt. Col. Kevin Parker, who helped direct the response to the simulation, said during the exercise he was pleased with how people had responded, but there is room for growth.

“I think we can always do things faster; I think we can always communicate better,” Parker said.
