KADENA AIR BASE, Okinawa — The Okinawa District of Department of Defense Dependents Schools has announced numerous moves for school principals and assistant principals for school year 2005-2006.

Jeff Arrington has been slated to leave his duties at Lester Middle School and take over as principal of Kadena High School, according to Henry Meyer, DODDS Okinawa spokesman. The current principal at Kadena High School, Ruth Hatcher, has accepted a position at the DODDS Pacific/DDESS Guam Area Office on Torii Station, Okinawa.

Other principals moving include Stan Hays from Bechtel Elementary to Kadena Elementary, Ian Coubrough from Kadena Elementary to Kinser Elementary and Joe Masters is coming from Guam to take over Bechtel Elementary, Meyer said.

Two assistant principals will also be moving schools: Rodney Peterson will go from Kubasaki High to Kadena Middle School, and Mike McClain is leaving Kadena Middle School for Bechtel Elementary.

The moves were sparked by the retirement of current Kinser Elementary Principal Bill Graham, the reassignment of Cherrye Hall from E.C. Killin Elementary to Guam, and Hatcher’s move to the DODDS/DDESS area office, Meyer said.

The principals’ positions at Lester Middle School and E.C. Killin Elementary School, and the assistant principal opening at Kubasaki High School will be filled by selection panels, Meyer said.

The panel members review candidates for the positions and make recommendations to the superintendent.
