A memorial service was held Monday for Lammar “Andy” Anderson, a Child and Youth Services worker in Stuttgart, Germany, who died following a July 4 auto accident. He was 61.

Anderson and his wife, Dawn, were driving in the Heidelberg area when the accident occurred. He was pronounced dead at the University Clinic in Heidelberg. Dawn Anderson remains hospitalized with a head injury at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany.

No details on the accident were available.

Anderson had worked in the Stuttgart community since 1995 at various jobs, the most recent as the Youth Sports director for the 6th Area Support Group.

Anderson was known for his teaching ability by everyone he came across, according to Bryant Searcy, 6th ASG sports director.

“He was not only a great employee, but he was a great friend,” said Searcy, who supervised Anderson for the past two years.

As a tribute to Anderson, the sports department has adopted his philosophy of “Go hard or go home” as its motto, Searcy added.
