SEOUL — The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency ticketed more than 500 people in the first two days of a five-day crackdown on drivers illegally using cell phones, officials confirmed Tuesday.

Police Lt. Kim Eun-gu, of the Traffic Safety Division, said the campaign’s goal is to help educate drivers about the danger of using cell phones.

The tickets are about $40 for motorcycles; about $60 for vehicles; and about $70 for large vehicles such as buses and trucks.

Kim said officers issued 515 tickets by mid-afternoon Tuesday.
