MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan — A senior airman assigned to the 35th Maintenance Squadron here is spending four months in base confinement after pleading guilty to assaulting his spouse.

The man also was reduced in rank to airman basic at a military hearing on Feb. 15, said Capt. Michael Brusca, chief of military justice for the 35th Fighter Wing legal office.

“He had a history of violence that escalated into this particular event that was pretty bad,” Brusca said. “He punched her. He banged her head off the floor.”
