Sailor sentenced to 3 years for assault
YOKOSUKA NAVAL BASE, Japan — An E-2 sailor assigned to the USS Kitty Hawk was sentenced to 36 months of confinement for an assault last year in which he was accused of stabbing another sailor with a butterfly knife, Navy officials said.
The incident took place off base in Yokosuka last November, officials said.
Majusty Boone, 24, a machinist’s mate fireman apprentice, was charged with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct after the incident, said Cmdr. John Wallach, spokesman for Commander Naval Forces Japan.
Boone was accused of injuring a fellow Kitty Hawk sailor. The victim suffered a “significant cut on one hand that required treatment,” Wallach said.
Boone pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon at his court martial last week at Yokosuka, the Kitty Hawk’s permanent base and headquarters for CNFJ.
In addition to confinement, Boone’s sentence includes reduction in rank to E-1; forfeiture of all pay and allowances and a dishonorable discharge, Wallach said.
