A Sigonella, Sicily-based sailor pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated sexual contact with a child and was sentenced to two years in jail, U.S. Navy officials said.

The military judge sentenced Petty Officer 2nd Class Jonathan Hurley to 30 months of confinement, but the sentence was reduced by a plea agreement approved by the convening authority.

Hurley also received a reduction in rank to E-1, forfeiture of all pay and allowances and a dishonorable discharge, according to information provided by Navy officials.

Hurley pleaded guilty to one specification of violating Article 120 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, aggravated sexual contact with a child.

The offense happened at or near U.S. Naval Air Station Sigonella, and Hurley had been on pretrial restriction since July 31, officials said in an e-mail response.
