Support our mission

WASHINGTON — Awash in red shirts and with several sporting Boston logos, members of the local chapter of Team Red, White & Blue ran more than three miles Wednesday along the National Mall in support of those affected by the bombing of the Boston Marathon.

Team RWB is an organization whose mission it is to enrich the lives of veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.

As the sun set and with various national monuments as their backdrop, the group ran along the reflecting pool to the Lincoln Memorial twice. There were several Afghanistan veterans with the group, some with spouses along for the run.

Taran Erwin brought her 9-month-old son, Nolan, along for the run. Boston native Matthew Feger, the director of development with Student Veterans of America, ran with the group, decked out in a green Celtics shirt.

On Monday, two blasts occurred on Boylston St. in Boston as a swell of runners crossed the finish line. Three people died and more than 170 people were injured from the blasts.
