RTT offers comparison shopping for airfares
KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Booking flights to the States has just gotten easier.
Ramstein Ticket and Tours, or RTT, a 435th Services facility, has launched an Airfare Shopper program, which allows active-duty servicemembers, Department of Defense civilians and their family members to search for flights to and from the United States, compare prices and book airfares at www.RTTtravel.com.
“On a daily basis, people can check for the latest fares available,” said Birgit Freyler, RTT assistant manager.
A travel request form is available on the site for those wishing to book travel outside of the United States.
Fares on RTTtravel.com cannot be found on other travel Web sites such as expedia.com or travelocity.com, Freyler added. This is because the rates listed on the site are military-only airfares not available to the general public.
“What we wanted to do is expand our services for the customer who is maybe on the night shift or is TDY elsewhere and cannot physically come into the office or call,” Freyler said.
Customers can still call, e-mail or stop by any of RTT’s three offices at Sembach, Ramstein or Vogelweh to make travel requests. With the introduction of the Airfare Shopper site, however, travelers can book flights no matter what time zone they are in.
