KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Dances, fireworks and champagne are all a part of celebrations U.S. military bases throughout Europe are planning to welcome the new year. If you prefer staying close to home on New Year’s Eve, but still want to take part in festivities, consider attending activities at your local base.

Here is what military communities are planning for New Year’s Eve:

BELGIUM:

SHAPE: The SHAPE Club New Year’s Eve party offers a Moulin Rouge theme from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Four-course menu, wines on the table and a full open bar. The Zenith Band and a cabaret show are on tap for entertainment. A champagne toast at midnight. Evening or dancing attire is a must. Tickets are 90 euros. This is an adult event. GERMANY:

Ansbach: Soldiers Lake Pavilion at the Urlas Housing Development on Shipton Kaserne is the venue for a party from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Music, refreshments and fireworks. Dress warmly, as the party’s outside. Open to local nationals and their guests. No pets allowed. Shuttle service to Katterbach, Urlas, Army Lodging, Bleidorn, Barton and Bismarck. Heidelberg: A party at Legends, at Patrick Henry Village, will begin at 8 p.m. and go to 2 a.m. The theme is “The Big Lebowski”— come dressed as your favorite character. The Bowling and Entertainment Center on Patrick Henry Village will be host for a family party from 3-6 p.m. Cost includes three hours of cosmic bowling, shoe rental and a finger food buffet. Animated movies will be played on the screen. Adults pay $20; ages 12 and under pay $15. An evening party takes place starting at 8. Bowl or dance the night away. Buffet includes beef brisket and carved ham. A champagne or sparkling cider toast at midnight. $35 adults; ages 12 and under are $20. Entry to the party without bowling is $20. Armstrong’s Club on Vogelweh will have a Lights Out Party from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Champagne toast at midnight, with a breakfast buffet at 2 a.m. Patrons must be 18 or older. Tickets are $5. DSN 538-9986 or civ. 0631-354-9986.

Stuttgart: The Galaxy Bowling & Entertainment Center’s party goes from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Bowling, prizes, soft drinks, finger foods and a champagne toast at midnight. $30 for adults; $25 for children 4 -14; entry free for those under 4. ITALY:

Aviano: Ring in the new year at Aviano Lanes from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Cosmic bowling, party favors, prizes, Prosecco toast at midnight, french toast breakfast. $60 per lane, which can accommodate up to six people. Shoe rental included. DSN 632-7487 or civ. 0434-30-7487.

Camp Darby: The Bowling Center will have an open house party from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Free wi-fi, gaming, live and recorded music, party favors. Food and beverage available for purchase. DSN 633-7458.

Naples: Strikers Bowling Center offers cosmic bowling from 8:30-10 p.m. or 10:30 p.m. to midnight. $20 per person, includes bowling, champagne, party favors and buffet. Sigonella: Celebrate at Connections from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Dancing and a cash bar. Jox Pub’s party is from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. and includes dancing, free munchies, party favors, door prizes and a midnight champagne toast. DSN 624-4264.

Teens and ’tweens can celebrate at the Youth Complex in Marinai from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Black-and-white dress is a must for teens. Dancing, games, scavenger hunt, billiards, ping-pong, prizes and a sparkling cider toast at midnight. DSN 624-1750.

Vicenza: A masquerade ball will ring in the new year at The Lion’s Den from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. The band Drop Simpler entertains. Also a DJ, snacks, party favors and a complimentary midnight toast. $25 when tickets purchased in advance or $30 at the door. Note: Patrons wishing to use the gaming machines must have tickets to enter the area. A bowling party package is also available. RAF Lakenheath: The Liberty Club offers a high-end casino, Irish bar, Manhattan night club, VIP room, DJ SebaDEE, food, prizes, a balloon drop and more. RAF Mildenhall: The Tudor Bar’s festivities start at 8 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres and a midnight champagne toast. Free for Mildenhall Officer Club members and $10 for non-members. Ages 18 and older only.

The Fire and Ice celebration features DJ Harp, hors d’oeuvres, midnight balloon drop, champagne toast and breakfast.
