A weeklong USO tour to Kuwait and Iraq featuring popular rapper DMX was canceled Thursday after he failed to make his flight Wednesday.

The USO said the rapper offered no explanation.

“We are extremely disappointed that DMX decided not to complete the tour he asked us to arrange for him,” John Hanson, USO senior vice president for marketing and communications said in a press release.

DMX, whose given name is Earl Simmons, has had massive success as a hardcore rapper and actor over the last eight years, and is the only artist whose first five albums debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, according to Billboard’s Web site.

“Typically, it takes up to 45 days to arrange transportation, housing, production assistance and country clearances for entertainment tours,” Hanson said in the release.

“This tour was put together in just under two weeks, because we know how much servicemen and women appreciate his performances. Mr. Simmons let a lot of people down.”
