Civil engineers from Ramstein Spangdahlem air bases in Germany took home an overwhelming majority of the awards at the U.S. Air Forces in Europe Civil Engineer Conference Awards Banquet last month.

Ramstein received 16 awards, while Spangdahlem earned 10 awards.

The recipients are:

Outstanding Civil Engineer Unit Award (large unit) — 435th Civil Engineer Group, Ramstein;

Outstanding Civil Engineer Unit Award (small unit) — 65th Civil Engineer Squadron, Lajes Field, Azores;

Brig. Gen. Michael A. McAuliffe Award, outstanding housing flight of the year — 435th CES, Ramstein;

Maj. Gen. Robert C. Thompson Award, outstanding resources flight of the year — 52nd CES, Spangdahlem;

Brig. Gen. Archie S. Mayes Award, outstanding engineering flight of the year — 48th CES, RAF Lakenheath, England;

Maj. Gen. Clifton D. Wright Award, outstanding operations flight of the year — 31st CES, Aviano Air Base, Italy;

Chief Master Sgt. Ralph E. Sanborn Award, outstanding fire protection flight of the year — 52nd CES, Spangdahlem;

Senior Master Sgt. Gerald J. Stryzak Award, outstanding explosive ordnance disposal flight of the year — 52nd CES, Spangdahlem;

Col. Frederick J. Riemer Award, outstanding readiness flight of the year — 52nd CES, Spangdahlem;

Outstanding civil engineer environmental flight award — 435th CES, Ramstein;

Harry P. Rietman Award — Udo Stuermer, 52nd CES, Spangdahlem;

Maj. Gen. Eugene A. Lupia Award (military manager) — Capt. Jason S. Campbell, Ramstein;

Maj. Gen. Eugene A. Lupia Award (military technician) — Tech. Sgt. Brion P. Blais, RAF Lakenheath;

Outstanding civil engineer manager of the year award (civilian manager) — Sarkis T. Farah, Ramstein;

Outstanding civil engineer manager of the year (civilian supervisor) — Heinz Muha, Ramstein;

Outstanding civil engineer manager of the year (civilian technician) — Wolfgang M. Richard, Spangdahlem;

Outstanding civil engineer manager of the year (senior military manager) — Lt. Col. Gregory J. Rosenmerkel, Ramstein;

Maj. Gen. Joseph A. Ahearn Enlisted Leadership Award — Chief Master Sgt. Russ L. Lichtenberger, RAF Lakenheath;

Chief Master Sgt. Larry R. Daniels Award — Master Sgt. Robert E. Thompson Jr., Spangdahlem;

Maj. Gen. William D. Gilbert Award (officer) — Maj. Laurie K. Richter, Ramstein;
