OSAN AIR BASE, South Korea — Rain truncated the Independence Holidays Softball Tournament for Korea post-level and open teams.

Day-long downpours forced organizers to cancel Sunday’s remaining 12 men’s and 10 women’s round-robin games and start the double-elimination playoffs on Monday with all 12 men’s and six women’s teams entered. Initially, only the top six men’s and top four women’s teams were to be entered in the playoffs.

Forecasts called for more rain on Monday morning. Tournament director Robert Waddle said if more wet weather hit in the morning, the event might be reduced to a single-elimination playoff starting Monday afternoon.

Championship games are scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
