WIESBADEN, Germany — A resident of a military housing community in Wiesbaden was injured Aug. 29 by an intruder in his basement, according to a message posted today on the garrison’s Facebook page.
“According to German and U.S. military police reports a Hainerberg Housing resident was injured slightly in his thigh by a protruding object after scuffling with an intruder in his basement just after midnight on Aug. 29,” the posting says, adding that the suspect was apparently attempting to break into a housing storage room.
The victim later received 2 stitches, according to a military policemen at Clay Kaserne, who could not say whether the attack was a stabbing.
“It was a bad situation that went south,” the MP said. “He’s lucky he’s OK.”
The housing area of Hainerberg is a non-gated community with open access.
According to garrison officials, police are investigating the incident and say the suspect was apparently attempting to break into a housing storage room on Texas Strasse. Nothing was reported missing after the culprit fled the scene.
The Facebook posting describes the suspect as a “30-something male with reddish-brown hair and a chin beard.”
