Police: Airman’s alleged attack on man fueled by jealousy
GINOWAN, Okinawa — Jealousy over his ex-wife’s boyfriend landed a Kadena airman in an Okinawa jail Saturday, police said Monday.
Sgt. Roberto S. Mason, 26, was in Okinawa police custody Monday after he allegedly punched a 30-year-old Okinawan man in the face at about 3:35 p.m. Saturday in the Kiyuna district of Ginowan, said a spokesman for Okinawa prefectural police in Ginowan.
According to the police report, Mason spotted his Japanese ex-wife riding in a car driven by the man and used his car to force the man to pull over to the side of the road. He then allegedly punched the man in the face before driving away.
Police arrested Mason at 4:05 p.m after responding to a call from the ex-wife.
Air Force officials acknowledged the arrest but offered no further information on the incident.
