SEOUL — South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense is investigating photos circulating on the Internet that appear to be of nude and partially clothed South Korean marines.
Yoon Kwang-ung, Minister of National Defense, released a statement Monday, in which he stated the issue raises sexual harassment and human rights concerns.
One photo appears to be of a senior marine peering into a marine’s briefs. Other photos show the marines posing in front of a military barracks.
Lt. Col. Kim Nak-jung, MND spokesman, said the photos are being analyzed.
A South Korean Marine Corps spokesman — who identified himself only as Yoon — said early Monday that it appears the marines took pictures of themselves “for fun” and someone “mischievously posted them” on a Web site.
