Flight days will shift Friday for passengers going in and out of Naples, Italy, on the Patriot Express, the U.S. military’s chartered commercial air service that transports servicemembers and family members.

Beginning on Friday, the weekly flight bound for Norfolk, Va., out of Naples will leave on Fridays instead of Saturdays, said Lt. Cmdr. Steve Cooper, operations officer for Naval Support Activity Naples. Return flights will leave Norfolk on Wednesdays, arriving in Naples on Thursdays.

The shift lets travelers make more connecting flights out of Norfolk, since some connections aren’t offered on Sundays, Cooper said of one reason behind the date shift.

The change also will affect flights leaving Naples bound for Navy bases such as Souda Bay, Crete; Sigonella, Sicily; Bahrain; Diego Garcia; and Djibouti. Those flights will leave Naples on Thursdays instead of Fridays.
