A Japanese driver died Thursday from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident at Hardy Barracks, Stars and Stripes’ headquarters in Tokyo.
The accident happened at about 10 a.m., when the man was pinned against a fence at the base entrance by his vehicle, according to Stars and Stripes Pacific business operations manager Terry Wegner.
The victim, who had exited the vehicle and was trying to stop it from rolling into the fence, suffered severe injuries and died later that day in a Japanese hospital. Japanese police are investigating, Wegner said.
