GRAFENWÖHR, Germany — Bavaria Medical Department Activity suspended the outgoing commander of its Hohenfels clinic last month pending the results of an unspecified investigation, according to the command.

Lt. Col. Gordon Mayes was weeks away from rotating out of the position when officials at the command took action March 19, spokesman Doug DeMaio said.

DeMaio said the department could not provide any further information about the investigation.

Mayes assumed command of the Hohenfels Health Clinic in June 2010. Upon suspension he was replaced temporarily by Maj. Jimmie Tolvert. Lt. Col. Christopher David assumed command of the clinic on April 3, as previously scheduled, DeMaio said.
