OSAN AIR BASE, South Korea — Base officials have identified three “hot spots” at which they’ve issued the most parking tickets since Jan. 1.

The three are the upper and lower level parking lots between the base shopping mall and Checkertails restaurant, and the parking lot adjacent to the 51st Fighter Wing headquarters building, officials said.

Those locations accounted for most of the more than 600 parking tickets issued since January, they said.

Most of those tickets were for violations of the one- and two-hour parking limits at the upper and lower level parking lots, wing officials said.

But they also were reminding motorists this week to park in authorized spaces only.

Motorists should pay attention to parking signs and avoid restricted spaces such as those set aside for fire or other emergency vehicles, buses, or for specific units and duty titles.

“Security Forces are out there trying to do their job and remind people the importance of parking in the proper locations,” Maj. Michael E. Shavers, chief spokesman for Osan’s 51st Fighter Wing, said Tuesday.
