Biologists and researchers from around the world will attend a symposium next weekend on Okinawa to share the latest studies on sharks, whales, manatees, dugongs and other marine life.

The international symposium, focusing on mysteries of marine life reproduction, will be held at Churaumi Aquarium in the Expo Park in Motobu and is open to the public at no charge.

It starts at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday. Lectures open to the public are scheduled for Sunday, beginning at 1:30 p.m. One explores the range of shark, skate and ray species and how they’ve evolved.

Simultaneous translations will be provided for the public sessions.
