Okinawa police probe mugging of a Marine
OKINAWA CITY — Okinawa police are investigating an alleged mugging of a Marine Saturday night in the Chuo district of Okinawa city.
According to a police report, the 20-year-old Marine was attacked by a group of men about midnight as he was walking alone in the popular entertainment district.
The victim told police he was attacked without warning by three black males in their mid-20s. He said they punched him repeatedly until he lost consciousness, according to the report.
When he awoke about five hours later in a parking lot he realized his cellular phone and a wallet containing about $65 were missing, the report stated. The Marine reported the incident when he returned to his base, a police spokesman said.
According to the police report, the victim had bruises and cuts to his head, chest and face.
