A field artillery officer with Okinawa’s 3rd Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, was killed Oct. 8 in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, according to a release.
Capt. Robert M. Secher, 33, of Germantown, Tenn., died from wounds received while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in the province, according to the release. Secher joined the Marine Corps in 1990.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday at Temple Israel, 1376 East Massey in Memphis, Tenn., according to a Memphis television station. Following the service, a burial with full military honors will be held at the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
