CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — The deadline for participating in the 2007 Overseas Housing Allowance and Move-In Expenses Survey for servicemembers in Japan and Okinawa living off-base has been extended to Friday.

The initial May 16 deadline was extended “due to a lack of participation,” according to a news release.

The Defense Department’s Per Diem, Travel and Transportation Allowance Committee began collecting the data April 17.

Participation is mandatory for all servicemembers who live in privately leased homes.

“Without adequate participation the OHA and MIHA allowances may not be adjusted to account for 2007 rates,” the release stated.

“To ensure service members receive the proper allowances for expenses incurred with obtaining local housing, it is imperative to ensure maximum participation in this survey.”
