CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — Marine Corps Community Services here recognized its 2005 Marine Corps Food and Hospitality Excellence Award winners in a ceremony Tuesday at the Chesty's Senior Noncommissioned Officer Club.
Okinawa’s MCCS facilities garnered 11 of the 43 excellence ratings awarded by the Marine Corps Food and Hospitality Operations Branch for 2005, according to MCCS Okinawa officials. Seven of Okinawa MCCS’s clubs were honored, as were all four lodging facilities.
To be eligible for the awards each year, nonappropriated fund food and hospitality activities must have operated for the entire fiscal year, been profitable and shown significant gains in customer service, financial performance, human resources and operations, according to a news release from MCCS headquarters.
“We have a terrific team of dedicated professionals who spend a great deal of time maintaining our facilities, ensuring that they are clean and meeting standards,” said James Garringer, director of MCCS Okinawa Food, Beverage, and Entertainment Services.
