Senior Airman Marschelle Harris ()

U.S. Air Force officials identified the airman who died in a South Korean hospital Wednesday night as Senior Airman Marschelle Harris.

Harris, 22, was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, 13 days after she was transported by ambulance to Ajou University Hospital in Suwon, just south of Seoul.

Air Force officials said Harris, a logistical technician with the 8th Medical Group’s Medical Support Squadron, died of a non-contagious, acute disease that "poses no public health risk," according to a Kunsan news release Friday.

But officials, citing medical privacy laws, declined to provide details on her "evaluation, treatment and diagnosis."

"Her death was a great loss to the 8th Medical Group and her presence will be deeply missed," 8th Medical Group Commander Col. Charles Tedder stated in the news release.

"It truly impacts us all here at Kunsan when we lose one of our finest. I personally want to send condolences to her family, friends and loved ones."

Kunsan officials planned to hold a memorial service for the Valdosta, Ga., native in the base theater at 3 p.m. Monday.
