The Defense Department has announced a series of general officer assignments that will affect U.S. forces in Italy and Germany.

Maj. Gen. Jason K. Kamiya, commander of the Army European Task Force (Airborne), is leaving Vicenza, Italy, to head up the Joint Warfighting Center, part of the U.S. Joint Forces Command, based in Norfolk, Va.

Brig. Gen. Michael J. Lally III will take over as commander of the 3rd Corps Support Command in Wiesbaden, Germany. Lally currently oversees the Defense Distribution Center, Defense Logistics Agency, in New Cumberland, Pa.

Lally replaces Brig. Gen. Rebecca S. Halstead, who has been tabbed to run the U.S. Army Ordnance Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. She also will serve as commandant of the Army Ordnance Schools. Her new assignment had been announced previously.
