GRAFENWÖHR, Germany — Some 800 participants endured more than a dozen obstacles from mud pits, to rock walls, to rope swings during the second annual Grafenwöhr Rugged Terrain Obstacle Course on Saturday.

The event, held over a 13-kilometer course, is hosted by the Joint Multinational Training Command and USAG Grafenwöhr’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation team.

Official times were not kept, but most of the runners were able to finish the entire course in between two and three hours.

“The event was a big, big success,” MWR spokesperson Troy Mason said. “It was a wonderful experience for the first timers and a shocking experience for the second timers. But they all finished exhausted, muddied and saying ‘Man, I can’t wait until next year.’ ”

Mason said they won’t be disappointed as plans for the next year’s event already in the works.
