No charges had been filed as of Friday against the USS Blue Ridge sailor accused of punching two Japanese women in Yokosuka city, according to the Yokohama District Prosecutor’s Office in Yokosuka.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Jon Michael Cockrell remained in Japanese custody Friday for allegedly attacking two 50-year-old women as they walked down the street in Yokosuka’s Hinode district Dec. 2.

A Kanagawa Prefectural Police spokesman said the case is still under investigation and declined to comment on it other than saying the 30-year old sailor said he was drunk at the time of the incident and does not remember anything.
