Nikon Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of one of its rechargeable battery packs because of the potential for the item to short-circuit, overheat and possibly melt, according to an Army and Air Force Exchange Service news release.

The battery pack, model No. EN-EL3, was sold in AAFES stores in the U.S. and through its online catalog, the release stated. Customers who have the battery pack should visit the Nikon Web site at to see if their battery pack is affected by the recall.

If so, customers can contact Nikon for a free replacement pack, the AAFES release stated. Nikon’s customer service phone number is 1-800-645-7768 and is a toll-free call from Europe.
