Navy man hit by baseball bat in San Diego altercation

(Tribune News Service) — A 28-year-old Navy man was hit in the head with a baseball bat and suffered head and spinal injuries early Monday morning after he got into an altercation with a man in Barrio Logan, San Diego, police said.
The victim was found near South 32nd Street and Harbor Drive shortly after 3 a.m. and was taken to a hospital, where he was being treated for a skull fracture and a cervical spine fracture, said San Diego police Officer Sarah Foster.
Police arrested a suspect, a man in his 20s, near the scene on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
A motive for the altercation was not immediately known, police said.
