NAPLES, Italy — The most senior enlisted sailor aboard a dock landing ship currently positioned in Bahrain has been relieved amid an investigation into alleged inappropriate behavior.

Command Master Chief Kelly Smith was relieved of duty Saturday for unspecified “alleged misconduct,” by Capt. Andrew Loiselle, commander of the USS Gunston Hall, a Navy news release said.

The Gunston Hall is based in Norfolk, Va.

Smith has been reassigned to Naval Surface Force, Atlantic, the release said. Smith’s replacement has not been named.
