(Tribune News Service) — The Department of Defense has lifted COVID-19 travel restrictions for Navy facilities in South Hampton Roads but retained them for Joint Base Langley-Eustis on the Peninsula.

Naval Station Norfolk, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Naval Air Station Oceana and the Little Creek expeditionary base were among the eight DOD installations to have restrictions eased this week.

DOD also eased restrictions for the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown.

DoD restricted travel at military facilities in March. Its June decision to ease restrictions in 39 states did not include Virginia.

For restrictions to be eased, officials must, among other things, be satisfied that a community has seen a declining trend in cases for 14 days.
