Expect big changes at this year’s Mayfair Bazaar, which kicks off Thursday at RAF Mildenhall’s Hangars 711, 774 and 772 near the West Row gate.
With 35 more vendors, live entertainment and a live auction, the bazaar has "a lot of new things to offer this year," said event chairwoman Danielle Wolfe.
Sponsored by the Officers and Civilian Spouses Club at Mildenhall, the annual bazaar offers a treasure of antiques, furniture, jewelry and other collectibles for sale from a variety of merchants from around England and Europe. All of the proceeds go to the organization’s philanthropic fund, which helps local American and British charities.
The club collects 14 percent of the bazaar sales. Base unit clubs that will be on hand selling food and drinks keep all of the proceeds from the sales they generate. There is no admission charge.
The bazaar runs from Thursday night (VIP only) through Sunday afternoon and usually draws up to 1,400 people.
Live entertainment from local professional acts such as the Rick Hudson Jazz Quartet as well as school and military groups will give shoppers a pleasant distraction while searching for something to take home.
As for a fundraising goal, Wolfe said the club never sets one.
"We just want as many people as we can to come out and give as much money as we can back to the communities," she said.
