YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — More than 100,000 Japanese are expected to pack Yokota for the annual Japanese-American Friendship Festival Aug. 20-21, according to Air Force officials.

This year’s festival will feature flight demonstrations by the U.S. Air Force and Japan Air-Self Defense Force and aircraft static displays, as well as performances by local bands and dance groups, a strong man contest, food and game booths. The event will culminate in a fireworks display starting at 8.25 p.m. on Aug. 21.

During the festival, Gate 5 (the Ushihama Gate) will be open to pedestrian traffic, but U.S. personnel will not be allowed to sign in visitors’ vehicles during the festival, according to the Yokota Air Base website.
