More earthquake aid on its way to Pakistan
Coalition forces are sending from Bahrain more basic food supplies, such as bread, milk and flour, to victims of the devastating Oct. 8 earthquake in Pakistan, according to a U.S. 5th Fleet press release.
On Wednesday, French and U.S. sailors unloaded supplies from the French supply ship FS Var, the flagship for the multinational coalition Commander Task Force 150 operating in the Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, and northern Persian Gulf. The sailors then loaded them onto the amphibious transport dock ship USS Cleveland, which will ferry the goods to Pakistan, the release stated.
Because the Var and Cleveland are deployed to the region to support maritime security operations, it allowed them to respond quickly to the tragedy.
