The Retiree Activities Office at Misawa Air Base, Japan, will stage its 6th Annual Military Retiree Appreciation Day this month, with activities lined up over two days.

On Sept. 29, the commissary is sponsoring a “Night Out” for military retirees. A facility tour and question period with commissary managers is to start at 6 p.m., followed by a social gathering with food, games and prizes from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

On Sept. 30 at 7:50 a.m., a complimentary breakfast is to be offered in the Mutsu Officers’ Club Ballroom. The 35th Fighter Wing’s commander or vice commander will be guest speaker. Drawings for flower arrangements and other prizes are scheduled.

On Sept. 30, a cake-cutting ceremony and welcome session are planned for 9:50 a.m. to noon at the Base Exchange’s main entrance. Retirees can register for drawings for gift certificates and merchandise while hearing about the Army and Air Force Exchange Service’s Still Serving promotion.

Tables will have information about organizations such as the Misawa Military Retirees Association and Tricare. The base’s Health and Wellness Center will conduct free blood-pressure screenings.

Reservations for the “Night Out” and breakfast are required no later than Sept. 20. They can be made by e-mailing rao@misawa.af.mil or phoning DSN 226-4428/5675 or 64-4428/5675 from off base. Each retiree is allowed one adult guest.

The RAO, 35th Services Division, AAFES, Defense Commissary Agency and USA Federal Credit Union are sponsoring the two-day event.
