Misawa gets new chief master sergeant
MISAWA AIR BASE, Japan — Chief Master Sgt. Frank Smith assumed the 35th Fighter Wing’s command chief master sergeant post Tuesday.
As the senior enlisted advisor to the 35th Fighter Wing commander, he’s responsible for the health, welfare and morale of the installation’s enlisted force, according to a public affairs news release.
He replaces Chief Master Sgt. Charles Clymer Jr., who moved to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., for an assignment as first sergeant with the 4th Equipment Maintenance Squadron.
Smith comes to Misawa from Scott Air Force Base, Ill., where he was command first sergeant for Headquarters U.S. Transportation Command. He enlisted in the Air Force in March 1978.
His previous assignments were at Air Force bases in South Dakota, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, South Carolina, Sicily and the Azores.
He has deployed in support of Operations Southern Watch, Joint Endeavor and Allied Force, Air Force officials said.
