Air Force officer dies in noncombat incident in Qatar

A 42-year-old Air Force officer died Saturday in a noncombat-related incident in Qatar, the Defense Department said.
Maj. John D. Gerrie of Nickerson, Kan., was deployed to Al Udeid Air Base where he worked in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, a statement said.
Gerrie was assigned to the 453rd Electronic Warfare Squadron based out of Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.
The incident is under investigation, the statement said.
