GRAFENWÖHR, Germany — A memorial service for a Grafenwöhr-based soldier killed in eastern Afghanistan will be held Wednesday at the post theater.

Staff Sgt. Daniel A. Quintana, 30, of the 172nd Separate Infantry Brigade, died after he was shot during a patrol in Paktika province last Saturday, according to the Department of Defense and Quintana’s father. Quintana was a member of the brigade’s 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment.

The service will begin at 10 a.m.

The 172nd, based in Schweinfurt and Grafenwöhr, deployed to Afghanistan in July for a 12-month tour.
