CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — A memorial service is scheduled on Saturday for Ensign John Robert Harrison, 26, who died Tuesday, according to a Marine Corps news release.

The cause of Harrison’s death had not been determined Thursday. He was pronounced dead 4:20 p.m. Tuesday at the U.S. Naval Hospital, where he was taken after the vehicle he was driving jumped a curb and crashed into the Kadena Air Base fence along Highway 58 while traveling in reverse. His wife and child were passengers but were uninjured, authorities said.

An Okinawa prefectural police spokesman said the impact was unlikely to have caused Harrison’s death. Investigators are checking for any health-related causes.

Harrison is from Mesa, Ariz., and was commissioned in the Navy in September 2006.

He is survived by his wife, Heather Leslee; his infant son, Patrick; father, John Eugene Harrison, of Rose, Okla.; and mother, Kris Tenna Harrison, of Casa Grande, Ariz.
