YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — A memorial service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the Traditional Chapel for Senior Airman Daniel Robert Edgington, who was found dead in his dormitory on New Year’s Day.

Edgington was a laboratory technician for the 374th Medical Support Squadron. Base officials have not released his age or hometown.

An investigation into the cause of death is ongoing, said Capt. David Westover, a 374th Airlift Wing spokesman.

In a written statement issued Friday, Col. Scott Goodwin, the 374th Airlift Wing commander, said the loss has been felt across Yokota.

“Our sincerest condolences go out to the family and friends of Senior Airman Daniel Edgington,” he said. “His tragic death has affected the entire Yokota community, and our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time.”
