Memorial service set for Naples sailor killed in motorcycle accident
NAPLES, Italy — A memorial service has been scheduled for a sailor killed in a motorcycle accident here Friday.
The Navy has identified the sailor as Petty Officer 2nd Class Naem Igrayeb, an information systems technician from the Bronx, N.Y. He was 26.
The late morning accident occurred in Lago Patria, a suburb north of Naples. A car, driven by an Italian, was involved in the accident, although further details were not immediately available.
Igrayeb was assigned to the Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Naples, said Lt. Cmdr. Robert Johnson, spokesman for Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia. Igrayeb, who joined the Navy in 2008 and reported to Naples in 2010, was married and had two children, Johnson said.
The memorial service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the chapel on the base support site in Gricignano di Aversa, Johnson said.
