GRAFENWÖHR, Germany — A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday for a 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment soldier who died last month in a car accident near his post in Hohenfels, Germany.
Spc. Domingo Sanchez, 26, of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, died Oct. 29 after his Chevy Tahoe ran off a highway between Hohenfels and Parsberg around 11:15 p.m., struck a group of trees and caught fire, HHC commander Capt. John Ortegon said.
German authorities are investigating the accident.
Sanchez was from Del Rio, Texas, where his wife and three children still live. He deployed three times to Iraq and arrived in Hohenfels in May 2010.
The battalion posthumously promoted the specialist to sergeant.
The memorial service will be held at the Hohenfels theater.
