YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — A town hall meeting for parents, teachers and employees of Yokota East Elementary School is to take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the base theater.

Base officials will provide an update on testing and removal of asbestos, said Capt. David Westover, a 374th Airlift Wing spokesman.

In early October, the school had to be closed for three days after a small amount of the substance was detected in the media center. Eleven classes had to be moved to other locations on the campus.

At the time, base officials said the closure was a “precautionary measure” to allow time for environmental tests.
