Marines on Okinawa schedule force-protection drill
CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — Marine Corps Bases Japan will conduct a force protection exercise starting Thursday and running through March 3 at various Okinawa installations.
According to the Marine public affairs office, the exercise is a routine, required annual exercise not related to any specific threat on Okinawa. It is “designed to refine and test procedures associated with protecting personnel and facilities and respond to natural or man-made disasters.”
There may be some no-notice gate closures and increased security on all island installations during the exercise.
