OKINAWA CITY — A 20-year-old Marine was arrested Sunday for damaging private property after allegedly leaping on the hood of a taxi and jumping up and down. Lance Cpl. Rasheen D. Brown, of the 7th Communications Battalion at Camp Hansen, was in Okinawa police custody Monday morning.

According to a police report, he caused about $450 in damage.

The incident took place about 7:30 a.m. Sunday on Gate Two Street, a road lined with bars and shops adjacent to Kadena Air Base. It’s a popular area for U.S. servicemembers and their families.

The Marine was apparently drunk and the hood dance was unprovoked, police said. A Breathalyzer test showed the Marine had a blood-alcohol level of 0.03, which is twice the legal limit for driving.

Brown was arrested about 165 feet from the taxi when police responded to the cab driver’s call.

Brown denied damaging the vehicle, police said.
