A 45-year-old man who works for the 8th Army was arrested early Tuesday morning while allegedly dumping a dead body from a bridge near Seoul, Korean news reports said Tuesday.

According to the Yonhap news agency, the Incheon Airport Highway Patrol spotted the man around 3:40 a.m. He was trying to dump a corpse wrapped in a plastic bag from the Yongjong Bridge, west of Seoul, police said. Police recovered the body and described it as the remains of a “foreign woman in her thirties,” the news report said.

The man is being held at the Incheon Soboo Police Station on charges of abandoning a dead body, police said.

Han Kwang-soo, an investigator at the police station, declined to confirm the details of the news report, but said a special team was formed for the case and was at the scene.

Officials at U.S. Forces Korea said they were aware of the situation and were working on official comment as of press time on Tuesday morning.
