March 16, 2009
Coalition forces helped destroy thousands of pounds of homemade explosives, primers, blasting caps and munitions in Baghdad last week at the request of the Iraqi army.
It took two days to do a controlled detonation of 6,000 pounds of homemade explosives, 1,000 primers, 600 blasting caps, 26 grenades, 25 rounds of ordnance and a bomb. The materials were collected by the Iraqi army over the previous month.
Members of Team 4, Joint Task Force Troy were called in to assess the cache finds on Thursday. They helped the Iraqi army destroy the materials at Combat Outpost Kemple.
